Dear chess friends,
In our EmailChessPoint single and double round tournaments are played, 3s, 7s, themes. Also the single player league belongs to this form circle. For such tournaments I have a tool at hand, which I made with some effort in 2006 and which was only adapted later, which makes it possible to organize such tournaments with minimal running costs. Were it all, 1 person could manage a game operation with 1000 players alone. But alone with such tournaments no growing play enterprise can be denied. It would also be boring for the organizer in the long run.
Single and knockout tournaments as well as the cup tournament are also a manageable ongoing expense. Of course the cup start could have gone better.
The pyramid is much more ambitious. It has already taken me several hours to develop and design its web presentation in such a way that ongoing editing takes place on a single, clear page. Nevertheless, a lot of ongoing effort is required in the form of correspondence with the players. This is worth it, because our pyramid inspires. It is responsible for most of the player growth, and it is an important tool that we have for players who play pyramids for longer periods of time.
Chess expresses itself in chess games, and our gaming operation offers a lot to show for it. We are very happy that CF Bernhard Riess archives and makes available all games, and even the small collections at each tournament find their interested parties. This is for interested people who are looking for ideas or want to study their next opponent. It is also good to use EmailChessPoint to find a way into large data collections. But it is not everything.
CF Michael Hoeppenstein showed us with a discussed league game, how pleasing games can be presented.
The newsletters pass on information and do nothing for our external image. A lot of possibilities are lost to us because we don't have a newsletter. Also the No-Forum will not change anything.
I derive from it all, and I ask you to understand that: I need more cooperation. Employees wanted!
The proposal for thematic tournaments has started very small and is highly appreciated.
It would be nice to have one or more players to follow up the theme tournaments: Select the educational games and present them in a tournament report.
It would be nice to have a player who can display linked commented games with individually clickable moves in the diagram.
We need a creator of English texts. I'm sure we have several players who have the written English level of a native speaker. But I don't know them and create translations of my own pages with the huge effort of someone who doesn't want to do anything wrong, but doesn't know how far that will go. It's all about grasping the meaning of our German texts and translating them into good English.
Always still wanted is the creator of a newsletter or similar. He himself will write what is close to his heart. That can be a one-liner. There is always enough further content.
All these are tasks whose execution can lead to our EmailChessPoint gaining in attractiveness both externally and internally.
There are also tasks of a different kind, namely those that I do to general satisfaction, but which in their sum prevent me from developing useful new things. This is especially the tournament leader activity in the tournaments mentioned at the beginning. Any other player can do that as well, but will have a much smaller amount of work to do. A tablet PC is enough to establish communication with the web server. Once a few hours of effort will be enough to capture the essential functions. An average of 4 minutes a day will be enough to manage all 7er tournaments or all theme tournaments. 2 minutes a day are required for all 3 or all KO tournaments, 1 minute a day for all individual tournaments. 2 hours/1 hour/30 minutes of rework is what this means when everything has to be left lying around for 1 month. The proof that it can be done is obviously in the fact that it is all up to me at the moment, and the leagues and the cup and the pyramid and the non-tournament pages of our website.
And highlights: If you invent your task yourself, you get all the freedom you need.
